Dave Savory

Founder, Licensed Construction Supervisor, Lead Designer

An Essex Mass native, Dave’s interest and passion for carpentry, development and design was born from watching his father’s local business expand and evolve throughout Dave’s upbringing. His father Ken was a builder, fine finish carpenter, and real estate developer who founded Kenrich Builders and went on to Kenneth S. Savory Carpentry. Dave was captivated by his father’s stories of buying and renovating homes as well as serving local residents and transforming their homes into what they dreamed of. With this example of what’s possible with creativity and drive, it’s no surprise that Dave grew up building tree forts, ropes courses in the yard, redesigning his childhood home and always having some sort of wood project going on in the barn. Dave remarks, “Ha, I remember constantly badgering my parents about how much we ‘needed’ a wrap around porch and how cool it would be to expand the house and finish off the attic. It must have been exhausting for them!”

Through the example of his father’s success with incredible customer service and beautiful craftsmanship, in 1998 Dave started his own business, Savory Roofing, at just 20 years old. After 10 successful years in that business, Dave decided it was time to pursue his passion. It was then that he took a leap of faith and created Savory Homes. He began transforming homes and serving communities through his vision, design, and craftsmanship. While the last 12 years of Savory Homes has been solely a buy, renovate and sell model, Dave is thrilled to be growing and incorporating a new direction. He is now focusing on working with homeowners so that Savory Homes can serve even more families in the area with a variety of different projects.

Dave still resides in Essex and operates his business on the North Shore of Massachusetts. He lives with his fiancé Keri, and their 3 children, Jackson (16), Molly (14) and Maya (13). When Dave isn’t crafting visions and transforming homes, he can be found on the boat “down river” in Essex in the summer months, and up north skiing Sunday River in the winter!
